Biomaterials
NEW BUILDING BLOCKS
Acies Bio envisions biomaterials to be an expanding market as industries seek alternatives to petroleum-based products. Traditional materials contribute to environmental pollution, resource depletion, and supply chain instability. Fermentation technologies prove to be a valuable alternative offering a renewable, biodegradable, and scalable solution for various applications, including packaging, textiles, bioplastics, and high-performance industrial materials. Nature already provides excellent solutions which then only have to be adequately translated into our industrial environment.
We drive innovation in this space by leveraging its advanced microbial technology to develop next-generation technologies for production of biomaterials. Through precision strain engineering, pathway design, and bioprocess optimization, we create highly efficient microbial production systems for scalable biomaterial synthesis. Our expertise in fermentation enables the production of customized biopolymers, bio-based chemicals, and novel functional materials, ensuring both performance and sustainability.
RESILIN
Acies Bio partnered with SmartResilin in a joint venture to develop new resilin-based material.
Resilin, a high-performance protein, offers remarkable elasticity, resilience, and durability, making it suitable for diverse applications, including:
- cosmetics and personal care: novel formulations for skin care and hair products with superior elasticity and moisture retention
- textile and wearable technologies: sustainable, high-performance fibers with enhanced elasticity
- advanced biomaterials: enhancing mechanical properties in coatings, adhesives, and flexible composites
We scaled the technology and achieved significantly improved production and are exploring various application possibilities, offering the prototype material for testing.
