Downstream processing
Diverse Downstream Approaches
Downstream processes are critical steps that, when perfected, ensure the product will be successfully brought to the market. Our expertise spans from simple biomass-based products to multi-step isolations ensuring different grade purities and production costs needed in food, feed, or industrial chemicals production. We can focus on either the development of solvent-free or standard solvent DSP process at our facility.
Multiple downstream processing (DSP) unit operations are available, including:
- continuous centrifuges and decanters
- filtration units
- reverse osmosis
- liquid–liquid (L/L) extraction
- evaporation
- ion-exchange chromatography
- various drying technologies
Acies Bio can develop different DSP starting with initial small-scale processes which are developed in a manner that enables us to scale them easily to suit final industrial production. Supported by our strong analytical department which guarantees end-product purity and integrity in each step. Our DSP options conclude with potential derivatization into semi-synthetic products.
End-product purification
Our team employs advanced purification techniques to improve the quality of bioproducts, eliminating impurities and contaminants effectively. At Acies Bio, we can purify your molecules to different extents. For specific market needs, we can develop different purifications protocols under desired conditions, from biomass or spores, simple metabolites, to many types of complex molecules (e.g., proteins, enzymes, biomaterials, food proteins, lipids, or RNA). We offer production of small quantities of prototype material for preliminary testing, larger quantities of material, and per-batch purification service. We also provide packaging solutions to prioritize product safety and stability throughout distribution and its shelf life.
